One of the Important Historical Symbols Over the Centuries
The historic city of Al-Okhdood is located southwest of Najran, with a past that dates back to ancient times. It witnessed periods of history that extend to 1000 BC, and its history reveals human civilizations over different historical periods.
The city of Al-Okhdood witnessed important events, most notably the story of Ashab Al-Okhdood (the people of the ditch) mentioned in the Quran, which dates back to around 300 BC, making it a historical symbol expressed by the multiple inscriptions contained within it and the remains of the archaeological buildings such as al-qasaba and the mosque. These are the most prominent of the ruins that still stand to this day.
